One MANS Opinion: Episode 299 – Boom Goes The Mock Draft

It’s NFL Draft week here at One Mans Opinion, and Jeff Mans is getting us ready for the first round and beyond. He begins this week's show with some news across the NFL, including the latest in the soap opera of Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini, a contract extension for Trent Williams, an update on Colts QB Daniel Jones, and the status of Rams WR Puka Nacua. Mans discusses a few of the NFL Draft prospects that he feels have slipped through the cracks this cycle, including the player who had the best odds to go #1 overall at this time last year. Then it is time again for the “Mans Vs Mock” simulation, where Jeff goes through all 32 of the first round picks and makes the best decision for each team while comparing his choices to the mock drafters out there. A few very telling trends then emerge as we wonder if the mock drafters are even trying to fit the player with the right team. The sports world and specifically the NFL Draft community were set ablaze this week as ESPN launched a full-on media blitz praising Alabama QB Ty Simpson. Jeff Mans took offense to this and breaks down why Simpson is not in the class of Fernando Mendoza, including a direct comparison between Simpson and an NFL QB he should most resemble. He also has another QB prospect that should be getting a lot more attention this year, but is not. Sports fans are being tricked by talking heads, influencers, and content farmers, and Mans exposes their tricks in this week's episode. Jeff also counts down his top 10 remaining NFL Free Agents and where each would fit best right now. The MLB season begins this week, and Jeff gives out a few of his favorite teams and players to watch for fantasy, DFS, and betting purposes. In one of the most emotional episodes yet on One Mans Opinion, Jeff Mans dives deep into his “secret life” of being a father. His two oldest daughters are moving out of the house and into their own, which has Jeff reflecting on raising two exceptional, high-achieving young ladies. Nobody ever talks about the emotional roller coaster of raising kids into adults who eventually leave the nest, so Mans takes it head-on this week. There is plenty of sports talk here as well, including Mans reaction to the Jaylen Waddle trade and a couple of NFL wide receivers finding new homes for 2026. Jeff gives out his final four teams and some upset specials from his 2026 NCAA Tournament bracket. Super Bowl 60 is in the books, and the Seattle Seahawks are the world champions.
